Abstract:In order to understand the preferences of Moschus berezovskii in different habitat choices in the Jinfo Mountain National Nature Reserve of Chongqing, a field survey was conducted from July 2022 to August 2023 using methods such as interview, sampling, and data collection to investigate 9 ecological factors such as altitude, vegetation type, and concealment in the M.berezovskii habitat of the reserve. The results show that: 1) M.berezovskii prefer to inhabit habitats with rocky substrates in mid to high altitude areas, with vegetation types of mixed coniferous and broad-leaved forests and evergreen broad-leaved forests, moderate canopy closure, low shrub coverage, steep slopes, close to water sources, and away from human interference. 2) Principal component analysis shows that the cumulative contribution rate of the first three principal components that play an important role in the habitat selection of M.berezovskii in Jinfo Mountain Nature Reserve reaches 73.351%. The main factors affecting their habitat selection are shrub coverage (0.915), slope (0.845), distance from water source (0.833), active substrate (0.812), vegetation type (0.759), and canopy closure (0.731). The above research results aim to provide scientific guidance and basis for the effective protection and management of M.berezovskii by protected area managers.
