    城市收缩作为城镇化进程中一个伴随出现的现象,在中国中西部山地城市也开始涌现;客观准确地识别城市收缩特征并探究其中影响机制,对区域协调发展具有重要意义。本研究以2023年重庆市下辖的38个县级行政单元(后简称区县)为研究对象,构建“人口—经济—空间”三维框架,结合空间自相关分析、 k -means聚类分析、地理加权回归等方法探究了2003—2023年重庆市县域城市收缩的时空分异、空间聚集特征及影响机制。研究发现:1) 重庆市县域城市收缩时空格局呈“核心增长、边缘收缩”极化特征,增长型区县高度聚集于主城都市区,收缩型区县集中于渝东北三峡库区和渝东南武陵山区;2) 重庆市县域城市收缩空间关联性明显,高-高(热点)聚集区从主城都市区核心向周围区县延伸,低-低(冷点)聚集区在渝东北三峡库区连片扩展;3) 全研究时期的 k -means聚类识别出4类差异化收缩类型,契合“核心—过渡—边缘”的梯度结构;4) 重庆市县域城市收缩影响因素存在明显的空间异质性,收入情况与工业发展水平是抑制城市收缩的核心驱动因子,高程为促进城市收缩的首要地理约束因子。基于上述结果,本研究提出了分类精准治理、强化内生动力、破解山地约束和健全协同机制的差异化应对策略,以期为重庆市县域差异化发展策略制定及中国同类研究提供理论与实践参考。

    Abstract:

    Urban shrinkage, as a phenomenon accompanying urbanization, has begun to emerge in mountainous cities in central and western China. Objectively and accurately identifying the characteristics of urban shrinkage and exploring its underlying mechanisms are crucial for coordinated regional development. This study takes 38 county-level administrative units under the jurisdiction of Chongqing Municipality in 2023 as research objects and constructs a three-dimensional framework integrating population, economy, and space. By combining spatial autocorrelation analysis, k -means clustering, and geographically weighted regression, it investigates the spatiotemporal differentiation, spatial agglomeration patterns, and influencing mechanisms of urban shrinkage across Chongqing’s counties from 2003 to 2023. The findings reveal: 1) The spatiotemporal pattern of urban shrinkage in Chongqing exhibits a polarized structure characterized by “core growth—peripheral shrinkage” with growing districts highly concentrated in the main urban area, while shrinking districts are mainly located in the Three Gorges Reservoir region of northeastern Chongqing and the Wuling Mountain area of southeastern Chongqing. 2) There is significant spatial association in urban shrinkage, with high-high (hotspot) clusters extending from the core of the main urban area toward adjacent suburban counties, while low-low (coldspot) clusters expand continuously in the Three Gorges Reservoir region of northeastern Chongqing. 3) k -means clustering identifies four distinct types of shrinkage during the entire study period, consistent with a gradient structure of “core—transition—periphery”. 4) Factors influencing urban shrinkage in Chongqing’s counties exhibit marked spatial heterogeneity, with income levels and industrial development being key driving factors that suppress shrinkage, while elevation serves as the primary geographical constraint factor promoting urban shrinkage. Based on the above findings, this study proposes differentiated response strategie, including precise classification governance, strengthening endogenous driving forces overcoming mountainous constraints, and improving collaborative mechanisms, with the aim to provide theoretical and practical references for formulating differentiated development strategies in Chongqing’s counties and similar studies in China.
